Dr. Rachel Hatton, DNP, APRN, FNP-BC
Vice Chair
Dr.
Rachel Hatton is the Nursing Clinical Coordinator at Bryant &
Stratton College in Hampton, VA. In this role, she coordinates clinical
rotations and preceptorships for the students. She uses her leadership
skills to help foster the growth of future nurses. She is a mentor to
the students and clinical faculty. She serves on the Nursing Governance
Program Evaluation Committee.
Dr.
Hatton is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner with an
autonomous license to practice. She has over 35 years of nursing
experience in various specialties, including primary care, urology,
pediatrics, gastroenterology, neurology, clinical research, and
hematology/oncology. She received her Bachelor’s and Master of Science
in Nursing degrees from Hampton University and her Doctor of Nursing
Practice degree from Chamberlain University.
Dr.
Hatton has received well-deserved recognition and awards, including
Who’s Who Among Young American Professionals and the Suffolk Breast
Cancer Society Survivors 2016 Unsung Hero Award.
She
is a member of Grove Church in Portsmouth, VA, Virginia Council of
Nurse Practitioners (VCNP) Tidewater Region, American Academy of Nurse
Practitioners (AANP), Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of
Nursing, and the Portsmouth Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta
Sorority, Inc. where she serves in leadership roles.
As
a two-time breast cancer survivor, in 2017, Dr. Hatton and her
daughters commenced Team Rachel’s Warriors in her honor and to support
the mission of American Cancer Society’s premier fundraising event,
Making Strides Against Breast Cancer.
She has been married to her husband for 37 years and they have two daughters.
