Irvine C. Lee

Chair

Irvine Lee is a retiree of Grove Church in Portsmouth where she served 17 years as Executive Assistant to the Senior Pastor. Irvine has over 35 years experience in administration. Her experience in administration includes 17 years with Bank of America as a Consumer Banker and benefits administrator. She also spent two years with Trader Publishing Company and while there, she administered the 401K Plan, Vision Plan, Tuition Reimbursement Plan and the Childcare Reimbursement Plan.

Irvine served 10 years as Grove coordinator of Grove's Women of Faith team for Making Strides Against Breast Cancer; the premier fundraising event for American Cancer Society. While in this position, Grove Church became the first faith-based organization in the nation to serve as a Flagship Sponsor for this annual event. In addition, she has served as volunteer coordinator for March of Dimes, American Red Cross, Portsmouth Volunteers for the Homeless and served as the Fundraising Chair for The Fredda S. Bryan Foundation.

Irvine is a native of Portsmouth, VA, she and her husband reside in Chesapeake. They have three daughters, four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Dr. Rachel Hatton, DNP, APRN, FNP-BC

Vice Chair

Dr. Rachel Hatton is the Nursing Clinical Coordinator at Bryant & Stratton College in Hampton, VA. In this role, she coordinates clinical rotations and preceptorships for the students. She uses her leadership skills to help foster the growth of future nurses. She is a mentor to the students and clinical faculty. She serves on the Nursing Governance Program Evaluation Committee.

Dr. Hatton is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner with an autonomous license to practice. She has over 35 years of nursing experience in various specialties, including primary care, urology, pediatrics, gastroenterology, neurology, clinical research, and hematology/oncology. She received her Bachelor’s and Master of Science in Nursing degrees from Hampton University and her Doctor of Nursing Practice degree from Chamberlain University.

Dr. Hatton has received well-deserved recognition and awards, including Who’s Who Among Young American Professionals and the Suffolk Breast Cancer Society Survivors 2016 Unsung Hero Award.

She is a member of Grove Church in Portsmouth, VA, Virginia Council of Nurse Practitioners (VCNP) Tidewater Region, American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP), Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, and the Portsmouth Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. where she serves in leadership roles.

As a two-time breast cancer survivor, in 2017, Dr. Hatton and her daughters commenced Team Rachel’s Warriors in her honor and to support the mission of American Cancer Society’s premier fundraising event, Making Strides Against Breast Cancer.

She has been married to her husband for 37 years and they have two daughters.

Tammy W. Gibson

Treasurer

Tammy W. Gibson is a Deposit Services Officer, Senior Operations Specialist at TowneBank for Deposit Operations. One of her core functions is to assist the entire Deposit Operations Team with an assessment of existing or new projects and procedures to drive efficiencies.

Tammy is a graduate of TowneBank Management Development Academy and Vann H. Lefcoe Leadership Development Program, Co-Chair for DEI Working Parents and Caregivers Networking Circle, United Way Campus Coordinator, and Supervisor for College Graduate Lead Associates. Tammy has over 30 years’ experience in Banking, Church Finance, Administrative Assistant, and Non-profit work.

She is committed to her faith, family, as well as serving and equipping others.

Tammy is a U. S. Navy retiree spouse, married over 35 years, and has one beautiful daughter.

Gail Marie Joyner

Secretary

For three decades, Gail Marie Joyner has developed an extensive resume that is founded on service, accountability, and leadership. Citibank, National Westminster Bank, Signet Bank/First Union Bank, as well as Tidewater Community College are some of the organizations she has served with. Gail has also held the position of DEI Counsel Member for the Department of the Navy and NARA, US. National Archives and Records Administration, under the Naval Sea Systems Command. In addition, she was showcased in the 2022 issue of 'Service to the Fleet' at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard.

Gail has a strong commitment to donating her time and advocating for local causes in the communities, especially those affected by low-income and minority groups. She is most notable for being a volunteer at Grove Church, Western Tidewater Free Clinic Administration, Portsmouth Volunteers for the Homeless, as well as serving as an Academic Advisor and Chairwoman for the Administrative Support Technology Program board at Tidewater Community College.

Appointed as secretary for the Fredda S. Bryan Foundation, Gail is responsible for managing and directing communication for the Bryan Foundation to ensure that meetings, events, and other foundation activities are documented accurately.

Her educational achievements are exemplified by her Master's Degree from the University of Massachusetts- Amherst. The program involved pursuing a degree in Higher Education, a minor in Social Justice, and completing graduate certificates in Public Policy and Organizational Leadership.

In her free time, she likes to practice yoga, bike, read, and travel. Gail is a loving wife and mother of three children.
